Chemical peels are great for targeting pigmentation, sun damage, age spots, fine lines and shallow scars.
During a chemical peel, liquids are brushed on to the face causing exfoliation of the skin and removal of dead skin cells. This stimulates the growth of new cells, resulting in a new layer of smoother, softer skin.
Treatment includes a cleanse and exfoliation of the skin, full face chemical peel, followed by serum and SPF application.
Skin becomes noticeably smoother and brighter and fine lines, wrinkles and shallow scars are reduced. Chemical peels may also improve skin conditions such as rosacea, acne and hyperpgmentation.
Unfortunately, not all treatments are suitable for all. Please check if any of the following contraindications apply:
- Pregnant or breastfeeding
- Sunburn or irritated skin
- Open pores
- Keloid scarring
- Infectious disease, such as Herpes Simplex (cold sores)
- Diabetes, as this can lead to poor healing
- Heart conditions for peels containing Phenol
- Deficient immune system
- Extensive sun exposure 3 days prior or post treatment
- Facial waxing within the past 7 days
- Laser treatment or skin peel within the past 2 weeks
- Accutane within the past 6-12 months
After a chemical peel, the following side effects may be experienced:
- Stinging, redness, numbness and burning of the skin
- Allergic reaction
- Scarring and infection
- Skin sensitivity or pigment changes
Typically, results can last 1-2 months. An initial course of three treatments is recommended for optimal results.

- Resume your regular skin care routine 24 hours after treatment
- Apply serums as absorption levels will be elevated
- Wear sun protection daily
- Stay hydrated
Things to avoid:
- Makeup on the day of treatment
- Products containing exfoliation agents for 3 days, such as retinoic acid, retinol, glycolic acid, salicylic acid, etc.
- Physical exfoliators for 7 days
- Picking, scratching or rubbing the treated area
- Excessive heat for 3 days, such as heavy workouts, saunas or steam rooms
- Sun exposure for 7 days
- Facial waxing for 7 days
- Chlorine for 7 days
